Feldschlösschen Beverages Ltd. has increased the capacity of its bottling and can-filling facilities at the company's main operations in Rheinfelden by a third, to 300 million units a year. Operations at the facility, re-outfitted at the cost of CHF 9 million, were officially initiated on Tuesday. The bottling operations are one of the core projects in an investment program totaling CHF 50 million which Feldschlösschen Beverages Ltd. plans to realize within two years at the Rheinfelden production site. In one hour, the impressive new facility can fill over 140,000 bottles or cans. The capacity increase is primarily a result of the integration of the two Rheinfelden breweries, which was already announced more than two years ago and which is projected to be completed in the course of September this year. Certain specific format components were also built into the new facility which allow Carlsberg beer to be bottled in its typical Carlsberg bottles and cans. With this step, the entire Carlsberg product range will now be brewed and bottled for the Swiss market in Rheinfelden, following the start-up of beer production last October for distribution in kegs. Since then, Carlsberg is now available in about 1,500 restaurants as well as in most large retail chains.
