Monday, October 15 was the big day: the very first batch of Carlsberg – 28,700 litres – has been brewed in Rheinfelden. For the Feldschlösschen Beverages Group, Switzerland's largest beverage company and part of Carlsberg Breweries since November of last year, the date marks an important milestone in the company's 125-year-old history. "Finally, we have a strong international premium brand that is also brewed in Switzerland," said CEO Erwin Flückiger at a recent press gathering. Carlsberg beer has been bottled in Switzerland since March – after being transported in tankers from Denmark to Rheinfelden. At the end of September, a media campaign was launched to accompany the product introduction.
